For years, the rage in photography has been color. The old black and white methods of taking pictures were all but forgotten. Over the past little while, new interest in the black and white photos has surfaced. One has to admit there is something magical about these.

Wedding photography includes pictures of the couple before the marriage, as well as coverage of the actual event and reception. The two approaches in bridal photography are traditional and photojournalistic. Traditional wedding photography consists of classically posed images. In this approach, there is much interaction with the photographer on the day of the wedding. In the photojournalistic approach, the images recorded are much more subtle with less photographer interaction. These two approaches are the two extremes of photographic styles. Today most photographers will side with one of the two styles.

Its ironic how many people will settle for average work with the photos they take. It is most probable because they know they are not professional photographers so they do not set any expectations on themselves. What they do not realize is that they do not have to be experts to get high quality photos.

A camera captures reflected light. If the light source is directly behind the camera, reflections bounce back directly off the subject and give an idea of its shape but not so much of its forms, scale and dimensions. But if lit from behind or from the side, the camera captures more light reflected off the subject’s angles. There are more brighter highlights and fewer shadow tones, contrast is higher and the subject’s shape and form become more distinct.

For some novice photographers it can be quite frustrating when they think they’ve taken the perfect picture and then when it comes time to developing them they see all the flaws. Mind you, some experienced photographers run into the same problem as well. That’s what makes great editing software for photography so important.

It seems like just about everyone has a cell phone camera these days that can snap photographs of just about anything in a matter of seconds. Using electronic pictures instead of the traditional film and paper print photos is cost-effective, there is no wasted paper to end up in the garbage and they take up almost no physical space at all!

Family portrait photographs are taken on numerous occasions such as anniversaries, birthdays, new born celebrations and annual family get-together.
